Mike Scofield is the composer and producer behind 4 Bar Cafe, a project devoted to the instrumental melody. With roots in the accordion, guitar and mountain dulcimer, he brings an unusual ear for texture to modern composition.
His work draws on a lifetime of influences, from classical and jazz to the Great American Songbook, to make music that moves easily between genres. Since 2022, 4 Bar Cafe has grown into a broad collection of original works, from full string sections to intimate acoustic arrangements, all inviting the listener to pause, listen and feel.
Mike writes and records in rural western Connecticut.
The pieces in the catalog are available for film, video, podcasts, broadcast, presentations and live events. Many were written with exactly those uses in mind: processionals, theme music, travelogues, scenes of reflection or celebration.
